The Special Procedures Technologist works under the general supervision of the Interventional Radiologist. The Technologist assists with a variety of diagnostic and interventional radiologic procedures, according to departmental protocol, as requested by the physician order. Positions the patient, and sets protocol factors with a high degree of competency on the imaging system.
Graduate from an Accredited Program in one or more medical imaging modalities as described below.
Radiologic Technologists - graduate of a JRCERT accredited program and ARRT Registered Technologist RT(R)
CT: Must be RT (R) (CT) (Or become ARRT CT Registered within 12 mos. of hire)
Mammography: Must be RT(R)(M) ( Or become ARRT Mammography Registered within 12 mos. of hire)
MRI: Must be RT(R) (MR) ( Or become ARRT MRI Registered within 12 mos. of hire)
Nuclear Medicine: Must be ARRT or NMTCB Registered Technologist upon hire
Ultrasound: Must be RDMS.(Or a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program and RDMS examination eligible. Must become RDMS Registered within 12 months of hire, or within 18 months for new graduates)
Interventional Radiology: Must be ARRT RT(R)(VIR) (Or become ARRT VIR Registered within 24 mos. of hire or completing cross-training program)
1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist. Basic Life Support (BLS). American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Preferred: 1+ years of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist.
