The Cardiac Rehab Registered Nurse provides the components of clinician, teacher, consultant and researcher for the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation department and exhibits proficiency in all equipment. The Registered Nurse completes the initial assessment of patients, develops the plan of care (with staff participation), supervises exercise sessions, monitors patients for inappropriate response to exercise, performs blood pressure checks on all patients pre-/during/post-exercise (watching for abnormal responses on telemetry device) and assesses patients pre /during/post exercise (making appropriate recommendations to the patient, staff and Medical Director).
Graduate from NLN School of Nursing required.
Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Mississippi.
Must complete BCLS and ACLS certification by the end of position orientation; must maintain current certifications.
Two (2) years recent and relevant experience required. Critical Care experience preferred.
Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs and uses many physical motions in performing day to day activities; must be able to stand for extended periods of time and due a great deal of walking without experiencing undue fatigue; may be exposed to communicable diseases or radiation. Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate, speak, and enunciate to express/exchange ideas and detailed information in person and on the telephone. Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity, with or without correction, with the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms that are closer to compare data at close vision. Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to work flexible hours, when required/requested.
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels. Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Must demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply professional skills to a patient population of all ages. Must work close with the staff to maintain excellent relations with cardiologists and other healthcare workers.
Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.). Must have working knowledge of MS Outlook. Job requires traveling throughout the SRHS service area with the employee providing his/her own transportation. Must have a valid driver license. Must possess the ability to cross train and work at multiple facilities and departments.
